Classical Music and Shining Eyes

TED talks are normally good, but this one is brilliant.

Since 1979, Benjamin Zander has been the conductor of the Boston Philharmonic. He’s known around the world as both a guest conductor and a speaker on leadership.

He has two passions: classical music and helping us all realise our untapped love for it; and by extension, our untapped love for all new possibilities, new experiences, new connections.

Inspiring stuff.

Moodstream from Getty

moodstream.png

Getty Images came in to show us some new products last week. One of them is a mashup called Moodstream, which is designed as a visual brainstorming tool.

Moodstream adjusts its visual and audio output based on settings the user sets up. Users can also create and save a moodboard to refer back to when beginning a project.

If you’re in an emergency pitch-type moodboard scenario there’s also Catalyst. Enter one keyword… and select the best match.

Musical treats while I’m away

I’m off on holiday for a couple of weeks and am in the careful process of choosing the right music for the break. Essential stuff you know.

However being the caring sharing type I wanted to point you in the direction of a couple of stonking mixes you need to get for your collection.

It’s got nothing to do with the fact I know the guys behind them both. Honest.

The Rolling Stones “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” was remixed specifically for the film “21” by Soulwax, brothers David and Stephen Dewaele, who have blazed a trail in the dance/electronica and pop universes. Love it.

Blip.fm – hellokinsella radio arrives

Picture 1.png

Blip.fm is a new web app that lets you tell people what you’re listening to… with a comment.

The look and feel is also similar to Twitter posing the simple question ‘What are you listening to?’.

It’s a really nice example of integration and how apps and services are finally feeling “more connected” hooking up to Twitter, Last.fm, Friendfeed and others.

Rubbish Exhibit A:

I press play in iTunes, like the song, and want people to know about it and have a listen.

iScrobbler listens to what i’m playing

Last.fm receives that data and publishes it

Blip.fm looks at that data to help make suggestions for my “blip”

Twitter automatically sends out a new ‘”tweet”

My Facebook status and blog rss feeds are now updated with a direct link to the listen to the MP3.

The frustrated DJ inside me is grinning.

Weezer plans for internet domination with “Pork and Beans”

Weezer “Pork and Beans”

This promo is quickly becoming the most-watched video on the internet.. within 2 weeks of it’s release it’s already generated over 5.7 millions views on YouTube.

Tapping into the YouTube generation it uses solid post-production to mix classics clips with new footage of internet “stars”, who were flown out to Los Angeles for the 4-day shoot. “Pork and Beans” was directed by Mathew Cullen of Motion Theory.

Promo videos for Radiohead “All I Need”

Radiohead & Microcosmos – J Tyler Helm video

JT Helms edited this promo for Radiohead with footage from the 1996 French film “Microcosmos”. The sensual pace and delicate melody of the song reminded him of a world much smaller than ours, with all the love and violence we experience.

Radiohead – MTV Exit Campaign

MTV Exit is a campaign about freedom — about our rights as human beings to choose where we live, where we work, who our friends are, and who we love. Most of us take these freedoms for granted, but hundreds of thousands of people throughout the world have had these basic human rights taken away. They are victims of trafficking – modern-day slaves — and criminals have forced, defrauded, or coerced them into various forms of labor, or prostitution.

End Exploitation and Trafficking:
